Olympic women's basketball bracket: Standings, what to know, what's next at Paris Olympics

The women's basketball world will focus on the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, as 12 elite teams battle to stand atop the podium at the Accor Arena.

The Olympics have featured women's basketball 13 times, with the event starting in 1976. The United States has dominated over the years, winning gold medals in nine editions of the tournament. The last team other than the U.S. to win the competition — the Unified Team representing 12 former republics from the USSR — did so back in 1992. Team USA claimed gold in the 2020 Tokyo Games by beating host nation Japan 90-75.

While the U.S. roster is so deep that the WNBA All-Star team that faced Team USA on July 20 featured only two players who represent other nations at the international level, it doesn't mean the Olympics will be a cakewalk. Five teams will call on WNBA talent, with the majority of Australia's roster currently playing in the league.
