Team USA sprinter Fred Kerley, who won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was arrested late Thursday night after a confrontation with police in Miami Beach.

Body cam footage released by the Miami Beach Police Department shows Kerley being wrestled to the ground by the officers, and later hit with a Taser after trying to get back up. He was then placed in handcuffs and arrested. The footage does not show what led to the confrontation and arrest.

The police report, obtained by multiple outlets, says that Kerley approached the perimeter of a police scene while on the way to his car and acted in an "aggressive" manner. Kerley allegedly tried to force his way past the officers, leading to a clash that quickly escalated.

A woman in the background of the video, who is reportedly identified as Kerley's girlfriend in the police report, can be heard repeatedly screaming "Stop!" and told officers that they were only trying to walk to Kerley's car.

According to police records, Kerley has been charged with battery, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct. Kerley was booked into jail Friday morning and was released later that day.

Kerley won a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash this summer, standing on the podium alongside teammate Noah Lyles, who won gold in a photo finish. Kerley is a decorated sprinter who won silver in the 100 at the Tokyo Olympics and has picked up a number of World Championship medals as well.
