Are there any Olympians from Miami or around Florida? Take a look at the map

The 2024 Summer Olympics may be in Paris, but there’s a distinct Florida flavor to the competition.

Several Olympians are from the Magic City and the Sunshine State. Even a Broward County surgeon is in Paris to tend to the U.S. wrestling team.

Among the South Florida athletes: Ashleigh Johnson, who graduated from Ransom Everglades in Coconut Grove, is on the U.S. water polo team. And Key Biscayne’s Benjamin Cremaschi and Inter Miami midfielder is on the roster for the U.S. Olympics soccer team.

The Summer Olympics that began this week features more than 10,000 athletes from across the world compete for gold, including nearly 600 on the U.S. Olympic team.

The games will go until Sunday, Aug. 11. This will be the third time that the French capital has hosted the Summer Games.

Historically, the U.S. has done the best at track and field, swimming, and shooting, with more gold medals in these categories than any other. These are the top 15 sports for the U.S. at the summer Olympics since the first modern Olympic games in 1896.

Olympians come from almost every state in the U.S. this year. Colorado, Vermont, and Hawaii have the most Olympians per capita.
