Olin Kreutz believes tough season is wearing on Bears QB Caleb Williams
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams' rookie season is nearing an end, and it's been a rollercoaster of a journey. On paper, Williams has had a good season through his first 14 games, throwing for 2,937 yards, 17 touchdowns and just five interceptions, all while playing behind an offensive line that has allowed 58 sacks.
Prior to the Monday Night Football matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15, starting left tackle Braxton Jones reported concussion symptoms, despite not being listed on the injury report throughout the week of practice. With Jones being ruled out on Sunday, that gave rookie third-round pick Kiran Amegadjie the first start of his NFL career on the road in Minnesota, and the results were brutal.
Williams has faced countless challenges this season, with the amount of times he's been sacked, the horrid offensive line play and multiple coaching changes, and it's been less than ideal. Former legendary Bears offensive lineman Olin Kreutz has noticed how much the season has drained the rookie quarterback, and believes all the changes and struggles he's endured have now affected his play as well.
"For people to say 'He's fine, this does not affect him' the chaos in that building, you've got to be kidding me," Kreutz said on 670 the Score. "His OC [offensive coordinator] is gone, his head coach is gone. We saw on Hard Knocks him meeting with Matt Eberflus, and now he's gone. As a player, you never feel good when a coach gets fired. You feel like you had something to do with that. Things are not going well if guys are getting fired. They should worry about it, he should worry about it, his camp should worry about it, and they should ask the right questions about what is going up there at Halas Hall."

As the 2024 season draws to a close, the picture continues to become more clear on what is really going on with the Bears, and the answer is clear dysfunction throughout the organization. At first it was Williams not playing well, then the offensive line, then the coaching staff, twice, and now the job security of general manager Ryan Poles has come into question of late.
Heading into the 2025 offseason, the Bears are going to have to answer several questions on their roster and their front office if they want to get the most out of Williams.
