Oilers Reveal Anticipated Evander Kane Update
EDMONTON -- Good things come to those who wait.
Edmonton Oilers fans had to wait a few months to see their team straighten things out. Since their rocky start, pieces are starting to fall into place. The powerplay is heating up, the penalty kill is locked in, and the goaltending has rebounded.
They are slowly getting healthy. But for that to happen, they must wait longer.
Speaking after the morning skate before tonight's contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning, head coach Kris Knoblauch gave an update on the status of Evander Kane.
"You are not going to see or hear anything on him for at least a month," Knoblauch revealed.
Kane has yet to suit up for a game this season. During the off-season, he went for surgery to correct his Sports Hernia. At the time, many were not expecting the forward to be back in game action until February or March. With the update from Knoblauch this morning taken into account, it appears that things may still be heading for that result.
That being said, a month from now puts us into approximately the middle of January. I'd imagine that Kane would need a few weeks of practice under him before he even considers playing a game.
Considering all that, it makes sense that Oilers fans would not see Kane play for the team until early February.
But given the Oilers' current situation, it's fine for them to wait. Let's hope Kane brings the goods when he returns.
