New Oilers Prospect Makes Great First Impression

EDMONTON -- First impressions matter.

Teams tend to take a lot of stock in what they first see with new players. This makes sense because a head coach needs to work with what they have, not with potential.

This is why the Edmonton Oilers newcomer has struggled to gain a foothold on a top-six position in the roster. His movement up and down the lineup has been a combination of being outplayed by other teammates and a poor first impression.

Oilers fans should take comfort in a different newcomer to the organization's first impression.

Jacob Perreault Makes Immediate Impact

Jacob Perreault was acquired just a few days ago but is already making a name for himself with the Oilers AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.

Perreault collects a loose puck inside the opposition blueline, skates to the right-side faceoff dot, and snipes home his first goal as a Condor. Indicative of how his season has gone, that was also his first (and point) in the AHL this year.

Perreault finished the game with a single shot in addition to his first goal.

With only seven games played this year between the Condors and Laval Rocket, Perreault has plenty of runway left to find his groove and take off.

For Perreault's sake, let's hope his first impression leads him to more ice time and offensive opportunities.

And hopefully, a little bit more puck luck.
