Oilers Legend Wayne Gretzky Endorsed By Donald Trump
EDMONTON -- Well, that's a sentence you don't see every day.
While the Edmonton Oilers enjoy their Christmas Break and a few Oilers prospects lace up their skates to participate in the World Junior Championship, Donald Trump is visiting The Great One.
According to a post published on Truth Social by Trump himself, he believes that Wayne Gretzky should run for Prime Minister of Canada.
"I just left Wayne Gretzky, 'The Great One,' as he is known in Ice Hockey circles," Trump wrote. "I said, 'Wayne, why don't you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada."
"You would win easily, you wouldn't even have to campaign."
"He had no interest," Trump continued. "But I think the people of Canada should start a DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement."

It's not unusual for sports icons to transition to other high-profile careers, but if this wish came to fruition, it would be the first time a hockey player of Gretzky's caliber became Prime Minister.
This encounter isn't the first time Trump and Gretzky have rubbed shoulders. The night of the US Election in November, Gretzky attended a Republican Election Event with Trump in attendance. Gretzky attended the event with some of his family.
Gretzky has had a successful post-playing career. He's been the head coach and part owner of an NHL franchise in addition to his forays into the restaurant and wine businesses.
It's not every day that a politician endorses a hockey player to enter politics, it's highly unlikely that Gretzky follows that career transition.
But stranger things have happened.
