Oilers Have Great Outside-The-Box Options For Faceoff Season Two
EDMONTON -- Let's grow the game.
Gary Bettman likes to talk about how the game of hockey has grown in different markets and demographics.
One way this could happen is by who represents the Edmonton Oilers in season two of FACEOFF: Inside the NHL.
If one of Stan Bowman or Kris Knoblauch were to be considered, it could bring a whole new depth and revelation to the game. After yesterday's season two announcement, two outside-the-box options should be considered.
On the ice, off the record and back for more.

The Case For Kris Knoblauch
It's not easy to be a player or a coach in the NHL, especially a coach of a team with sky-high expectations. In season one, FACEOFF provided an intimate look at players' lives but didn't feature any coaches.
Knoblauch is in his first full season as a head coach and recently coached his 100th NHL game. Relatively speaking, he's still a new coach.
When a show enters a new season, offering something new is imperative. A fantastic way to do this is to immerse hockey fans in the life of a coach and the unique pressures they face.
How can Knoblauch handle the pressures of his first full season as a head coach? How does he shoulder the burden of coaching a Stanley Cup Contender and all the expectations that brings?
Featuring him would bring all of that to light.
The Case For Stan Bowman
Featuring a general manager, like a coach, would bring a new dimension to FACEOFF. But Bowman isn't just another GM.
Bowman is in his first season back as a GM after the Kyle Beach sexual assault scandal fallout. Since then, he's been working on practical ways to create a better environment within hockey clubs that focuses on eliminating sexual abuse and the factors that contribute to that abuse.
Conversely, the Oilers' status as a Stanley Cup Contender adds depth to the story. Can Bowman continue to build goodwill within the hockey community and lead the Oilers to their first Stanley Cup in over thirty years?
Everyone loves a good redemption story, and Bowman is well on his way to redemption. Covering his story in the second season of FACEOFF would be timely and enlightening for all to hear.
If the producers of the Amazon series and the NHL are truly serious about growing the game, these are two Oilers-related options that could (and should) be considered.
