Oilers Continue On With Demotion Carousel

EDMONTON -- There ain't no rest for the wicked.

Or the winners. The Edmonton Oilers won an afternoon matinee versus the Vegas Golden Knights. The hometown team rang the visitors' bell to the tune of 6-3.

Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Darnell Nurse led the way offensively for the Oilers. Nurse's 23:21 of ice time led the team on the way to their victory.

In an unsurprising move, the Oilers have loaned Josh Brown back to Bakersfield.

Brown was called up as insurance for the Oilers' right side on the back end if Evan Bouchard could not play. The young defender ended up playing 22:51, so it's safe to say that things seem good with Bouchard.

The veteran defender will bring much-needed experience to the AHL team. The Bakersfield Condors dropped their decision on Saturday night to the Toronto Marlies.

Olivier Rodrigue did his best to keep the Condors in the fight, but they lost 6-5 in overtime, with Alex Nylander scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals for the Marlies.

With Alec Regula now in the fold, the need to call up Brown in the future should diminish. His lack of foot speed and ability to move the puck greatly disadvantage him.

Despite this, the organization still has faith in the blueliner. Otherwise, they wouldn't have signed him to a three-year contract this past summer.
