Oilers captain McDavid lashes out at 'classless' Manning
Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid isn’t one to forget a slight, or an injury that sidelined him for the bulk of his rookie campaign.
So on Thursday night, when the Oilers faced off against Brandon Manning and the Philadelphia Flyers there was some bad blood. After all, it was Manning who went crashing into the end boards with McDavid on the play that injured the Edmonton star’s shoulder last season.
On Thursday night, after scoring a goal for which Manning was on the ice, McDavid made sure to remind the Flyers defenceman of the incident with a few choice words.

After the game McDavid was asked about his beef with Manning and responded in the most non-McDavid way possible. He was angry. He called Manning’s display “classless” and said he thought the defenceman had tried to intentionally injure him last year.

The comments were so out of character for McDavid, that even Wayne Gretzky chimed in on the controversy.
