Oil Kings Blank Rebels In Teddy Bear Toss, Gracyn Sawchyn Dazzles
Fur was flying in Rogers Place on Sunday, as the 16th annual Edmonton Oil Kings Teddy Bear Toss ended quite favourably for the home team.
The Oil Kings took a 5-0 victory over the Red Deer Rebels, with assistant captain Gracyn Sawchyn opening the floodgates for 15, 458 bears to rain down on the ice. This game, unsurprisingly, was the highest attendance of the season so far; 17, 224 fans packed the Edmonton rink to support their team (and a good cause).

Every single one of the bears tossed on the ice will be donated to 880 CHED Santa's Anonymous, to go to thousands of kids across Edmonton.
A grand total of 177, 117 bears have been thrown since the team began the tradition in 2007-08, and the year-over-year number is only climbing. That is, with the exception of 2019-20 where a club record was set at 16, 491.
Sawchyn also collected two assists in the victory, while brother Lukas got himself a goal and an assist as well.
Not to be outdone, Oil Kings goaltender Alex Worthington stopped all 27 shots thrown his way for his first career shutout.

All in all, the Oil Kings send their faithful home happy in what was a "beary" exciting night.
