OGC Nice’s Melvin Bard absent several weeks
OGC Nice have suffered another blow with Melvin Bard (23) now ruled out until the international break after sustaining an injury during the midweek draw against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League.
Bard has been immovable at left-back for the past two seasons. The Frenchman, whose position was at times called into question, fought off competition from Joe Bryan and then Romain Perraud to retain his spot in the starting XI under Lucien Favre, Didier Digard, Francesco Farioli, and now Franck Haise. However, Le Gym must now do without him until after the international break.
Speaking at a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Haise confirmed that Bard had suffered a thigh injury against Real Sociedad and it is thought that he will now be absent until after the international break in mid-October. Ali Abdi, signed on a ‘joker’ transfer, is expected to take his place.
In better news, Hicham Boudaoui is ahead in his recovery from an injury that was expected to rule him out until mid-October. He could even start against RC Lens on Saturday. Jérémie Boga is also nearing a return.
