Official: Real Madrid superstar features in UEFA Team of the Week
The final matchday of the UCL league phase saw Real Madrid secure a comfortable 3-0 win over Brest.
The three points helped Los Blancos secure 11th place in the final standings, with a total of 15 points collected in eight matches.
While Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham were the star performers on the night against Brest, Thibaut Courtois, too, produced a brilliant performance in between the sticks.
Courtois makes it to TOTW
In the wake of Courtois’ performance against Real Madrid, the Belgian has even made it to Champions League’s Team of the Week.
It was a deserved inclusion for the Real Madrid goalkeeper, who pulled off an early save on and a few months later in the game.
Courtois’ alertness in between the sticks helped the Real Madrid shot-stopper a well-deserved clean sheet.
As a result, the Belgian emerged as the best-performing goalkeeper in the final matchday of the UCL league phase.
Speaking to the press after the game, Courtois hailed the defensive support he received from his teammates.
Courtois, though, was the only Real Madrid player to feature in the Team of the Week, with Rodrygo and Bellingham being the notable omissions.
Among the Spanish teams, Ronald Araujo of Barcelona found his place in the TOTW thanks to a solid performance against Atalanta while Antoine Griezmann’s stellar performance against RB Salzburg earned him a place in the attack.
