Lille centre-back Rafael Fernandes (22) has joined Scottish Premiership giants Rangers FC on loan, both clubs have announced. The 22-year-old Portugal U20 international joined Les Dogues one year ago from Portuguese first-tier Arouca over a 2M€. Fernandes barely featured with the Ligue 1 side. He was yet to play a single game with Bruno Genesio’s side this campaign. In his search for game time, Lille allowed Rafael Fernandes to leave on loan to Rangers FC. Fernandes remains tied with Lille OSC over a contract set to expire in 2028.

Fernandes’ loan move to the Glasgow-based side includes an option to make his switch to Ibrox Park permanent. “I am very happy to be here, it was a club I wanted to come to since I heard about the interest, and I am really happy to finally to be here“, said the former Sporting CP Academy graduate. “My first impressions have been really good, I met some of my colleagues, some of the staff and all of them made me comfortable to start this new challenge.”
