Manchester City FC have signed Lens centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov (20), both clubs have confirmed this Monday. The Premier League champions have agreed on a €50m transfer fee to sign the Uzbekistan international, setting a new club record sale for the Ligue 1 side, eclipsing Loïs Openda’s 2023 switch to RB Leipzig. Khusanov has put pen to paper over a four-and-a-half-year deal with Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens.

Khusanov was signed eighteen months ago from Belarusian outfit Energetik-BGU for a €100k cut-price deal. His value has sky-rocketed following his breakout performances for Lens. The Artois side was in desperate need of fresh funds to balance the books in the context of France’s domestic TV rights debacle. Manchester City, who had to deal with several injuries this campaign, quickly pounced to fend off competition from rival Premier League clubs and rejuvenate their aging backline.

Khusanov will wear Manchester City’s No. 45 jersey. He could make his City debut this Saturday as the Skyblues host Chelsea FC at the Etihad Stadium.
