Official: Lamine Yamal becomes the youngest player to secure Top 10 spot in Ballon d’Or history; Olmo 13th
After a year and a half during which he has broken all sorts of records, Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal shows no signs of stopping.
The 17-year-old La Masia sensation had become the youngest-ever footballer to make it to the Top 30 nominees in Ballon d’Or history.
Yamal makes history again
Now, the Barça and Spain prodigy, who is the favourite to win the Kopa Trophy tonight, has secured a place in the Top ten of the final Ballon d’Or rankings.
In the process, Yamal has become the youngest player in Ballon d’Or history to finish in the top ten.
While his final finishing position is yet to be announced, this is yet another feather in the cap of inarguably the best young footballer in the game at this point.
Yamal finds himself in esteemed company with superstars like Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Rodri, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham, while Lautaro Martinez, Dani Carvajal, and Toni Kroos complete the Top 10.
Olmo finishes 13th
Meanwhile, Barcelona summer signing Dani Olmo finished in the 13th position in the final Ballon d’Or rankings for 2024.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder enjoyed a fruitful campaign with RB Leipzig, which was followed by a fine run with Spain at the UEFA Euro 2024, where he finished as the top scorer and one of the best players at the tournament.
