Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé (25) has sustained a femoral biceps injury in his left leg, according to the La Liga side. The France captain sustained this injury on Tuesday night, during Real Madrid’s 3-2 home victory against Alaves, in which the former Paris Saint-Germain forward found the back of the net. According to The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, Mbappé will be out for the next three weeks. It’s a blow for Carlo Ancelotti’s side considering Mbappé had played a vital part for Real Madrid this last few weeks.

Should Mbappé’s three-week absence be confirmed, he will notably miss this Sunday’s Madrid derby against Atlético as well as Real Madrid’s Champions League game against Ligue 1 side Lille OSC, where his younger brother Ethan features. Furthermore, Mbappé is also set to miss out on France’s upcoming Nations League games. Les Bleus will face Israel on October 10, in Budapest, before locking horns with Belgium four days later in Brussels. France national team manager Didier Deschamps will announce his squad for the international break on Thursday, October 3.
