Official: Girona announce 5th summer signing

La Liga outfit Girona have on Friday announced a fresh addition to the club’s defensive ranks.

The player all set to take his talents to the Estadi Montilivi for the season ahead comes in the form of Alejandro Francés.

For those not familiar with his name, Francés is a 21-year-old central defender, who has spent the formative years of his fledgling career to date on the books of Real Zaragoza.

The youngster has long been considered a potential star in the making in Spain, giving rise to links with a number of leading La Liga clubs this summer.

And, as alluded to above, on Friday, one such outfit have won out in the race for Francés’ signature.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the aforementioned Girona:

‘Alejandro Francés will be a new Girona FC player for the next five seasons, until 2028-2029. The Club and Real Zaragoza have reached a transfer agreement for the Aragonese defender.’

The youngster joins Ladislav Krejčí, Abel Ruiz, Donny van de Beek, and Gabriel Misehouy as additions to Míchel’s La Liga high-flyers with a view to next season.
