Official | George Ilenikhena signs for Monaco
Royal Antwerp striker George Ilenikhena (17) has officially joined Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, both clubs have confirmed. The teenager’s transfer fee reportedly rises to €20m. Ilenikhena rose to prominence after becoming the youngest-ever Frenchman to score in a Champions League game when Antwerp recorded a famous 3-2 group stage win against FC Barcelona last season.
Ilenikhina has logged 14 goals in 50 games for Antwerp. The Lagos-born left-footed centre-forward is making a return to France after making its professional debut at Ligue 2 side Amiens. The French-Nigerian striker will wear the #21 jersey with Les Monégasques. He has reportedly signed a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 side.

The Principality side was scouting the market for a striker after the departure of Wissam Ben Yedder (33) as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract. Monaco were touted as the favorite to land Metz centre-forward Georges Mikautadze (23) but, despite an agreement being reached between Monaco and Metz, the Georgia international joined Lyon instead.
