Official: Borussia Mönchengladbach snap up Kevin Diks on a free
Kevin Diks’ rumored transfer to Borussia Mönchengladbach is officially through. The five-times German champions announced that the Indonesian international will be arriving in the Bundesliga after the season on a free transfer from FC Copenhagen. Diks’ new contract with the Westphalians runs through 2030.
The nature of the transaction likely means that the likes of Ko Itakura, Marvin Friedrich, and Nico Elvedi will be remaining with the foals through the end of the January transfer window. Some defenders may nevertheless be on the move this offseason once Diks arrives.
“Kevin is an experienced, versatile defender who can play in all positions in the back four – center, left or right,” BMG sporting director Roland Virkus noted in a club statement accompanying the signing. ”He will make us more flexible in defense. He’s also a really good guy who knows exactly what he wants. He’ll fit in well with us.”
“I’m delighted that the move to Borussia has worked out,” the player himself added, “Borussia is a big club in Germany, and I’m excited about what’s to come. But I still have big goals with my previous club and I’m looking forward to the second half of the season with FC Copenhagen.”
