“Official bid sent” – Romano confirms next Chelsea transfer one step away
After a quiet start to this month, things are starting to warm up, and it feels like we could see some major deals concluded at Chelsea in the next few days.
One major move will see a player who was a first team regular last season moving to a Premier League rival. Axel Disasi has never been in favour under Enzo Maresca, and recently saw himself drop even below Premier League debutant Josh Acheampong in the pecking order.
An exit now makes sense all around, and there are seemingly plenty of top flight teams interested in adding the hulking central defender to their ranks.
Chief among them are Aston Villa, whose interest has been rumoured for a while. They’ve now taken things to the next level by making an official bid, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian insider just Tweeted that Villa have “sent [their] official bid,” which consists of them paying a fee, plus “salary coverage” (whether that’s 100% of the salary or just a portion isn’t clear).
There’s no mention of a purchase clause, but we’d imagine if the move works out well there would be no difficulty in arranging something. What might be difficult is getting money back close to the insane €45m we paid for him to Monaco 18 months ago.
Move could suit all parties if Disasi performs for Villa
Not many Chelsea fans will be unhappy with the news that Disasi might go, and the defender is also probably pretty happy to make the move and play regularly for a strong team both in the league and potentially in the Champions League, if results go their way tomorrow.
If Chelsea are happy with what Villa are putting on the table here, we could see this deal done in the next 24 hours.
