Official: Barcelona forward suffers fresh injury setback; out for four weeks
In a fresh blow, Barcelona have confirmed that young forward Ansu Fati has suffered a thigh injury, ruling him out of action for four weeks.
“Ansu Fati suffered a muscle injury to the biceps femoris of his right thigh during training on Wednesday. He is expected to be out for around four weeks,” the statement from the club read.
This comes as yet another setback for Ansu, who has struggled to maintain fitness for an extended period ever since his first injury a few years ago.
The La Masia ace already missed the start of the current season with a foot injury and had been unable to make much of an impact since returning to action.
Amid talks of a possible departure in the January transfer window, Fati has now suffered a fresh injury, which is set to rule him out for a period of one month.
As such, he is now expected to miss the matches against the likes of Celta Vigo, Brest, Las Palmas, Mallorca, Real Betis, and Borussia Dortmund at the very least.
If his recovery takes a little longer than that, the forward’s 2024 might well be over and whether he plays for Barça again this season remains to be seen amid rumours of a January departure.
