Official | Bafodé Diakité extends Lille deal
Lille OSC centre-back Bafodé Diakité (23) has put pen to paper over a two-year contract extension, the Ligue 1 side announced. The 23-year-old is now tied to Les Dogues over a long-term contract set to expire in 2028. The France U23 international joined Lille from Toulouse two years ago in a €3m deal. The versatile Diakité, who can also fill in at right-back, has featured 71 times for Lille, logging a commendable output of ten goals and three assists. Diakité has not missed a single minute of action so far, featuring in all of Lille’s seven competitive games so far, comfortably finding his place in Bruno Genesio’s three-man defense.

L’Equipe previously reported that Bayern Munich were keeping a close eye on Diakité’s progress. “He has established himself for several seasons as a key player in our team, regardless of the coach”, commented Lille president Olivier Létang. “Bafo is a versatile and ever-reliable player, whether at right-back or as a central defender. He has today become a reference in his position in Ligue 1.”
Lille will travel to Saint-Etienne on Friday before making their return to the Champions League. Les Dogues will play Sporting CP in Lisbon on Tuesday.
