Odell Beckham achieves yardage milestone in stagnant offense

You wouldn’t know it from watching the New York Giants this season, but Eli Manning to Odell Beckham Jr. has been an elite passing combination.

Now Beckham has an NFL record to prove it.

Deep pass pushes Beckham past 5K

With a deep strike down from Manning down the sideline for 51 yards in the third quarter Monday against the Atlanta Falcons, Beckham became the fastest receiver since the 1970 merger to eclipse 5,000 receiving yards. He needed 54 games to reach the milestone. Only Lance Alworth achieved the milestone faster, in 52 games.

Beckham achieved the milestone in his fifth season, but was well on pace to reach the number last season before a broken ankle cut his 2017 campaign short.

Beckham putting up numbers despite Giants offense

Beckham tallied 1,305 receiving yards his rookie year, a number he surpassed in his second and third seasons. With 506 yards through six games entering Monday, Beckham is on pace to surpass that total once again.

It goes to show how special a talent he is. Playing in one of the league’s worst offenses with an aging Manning struggling to get the ball downfield, Beckham is still managing to put up elite numbers.
