Holders Oban Camanachd defeated Kyles Athletic 3-1 at Yoker in the final of the Scottish Seafoods Celtic Society Cup for the South area championship.

Camanachd were favourites over the only other South team in the Premiership and opened the scoring with a Malcolm Clark goal on the half-hour. However, Kyles struck back quickly through Scott MacDonald.

The game then swung on two goals in a minute at the very end of the first half as Clark got his second, followed immediately by one from Lewis Cameron.

The second half failed to produce further scoring, although Oban keeper Cammy Sutherland had a fine penalty save from the last hit of the game.

The North semi-final of the Artemis Macaulay Cup will match Lovat, 2-0 winners away to Lochaber, and Kingussie who maintained their season’s unbeaten record with a 3-0 defeat of Kinlochshiel at The Dell.

Danny Kelly late in the first half and a clincher from Fraser Heath with quarter-of-an-hour left sent Lovat through. Meanwhile, a five-minute first-half blitz comprising a goal from Savio Genini and a Dylan Borthwick double secured Kingussie’s progress.

The top two in the National Division clashed at An Aird in the last eight of the Ferguson Balliemore Cup for shinty’s intermediate championship. Fort captain Victor Smith grabbed the only goal of the game to eliminate the league leaders.

Shinty’s oldest rivalry produced a 4-2 victory for Strathglass over Glenurquhart at Drumnadrochit in North Division 1, albeit for the winners’ first team, who have been relegated to this area league, over Glen’s reserves.
