Numbers Assigned For New Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes have announced the numbers that Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall will wear with their new team.

Rantanen will wear 96, the only number he's ever worn in the NHL, as Jack Roslovic, who previously wore it, opted to give it to the new guy and instead will wear 98.

But it does sound like Roslovic will have a nice watch coming his way from the new Finn for the gesture.

No other player in franchise history had ever worn either number before.

Hall will wear 71, the number he previously wore with the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins.

71 was previously worn by Jesper Fast and although the Swedish forward is still on the roster, he was ruled out for the entire season after having neck surgery in the offseason.

Other players to wear 71 include Lucas Wallmark (2017-2020), Jerome Samson (2011-2012) and Tomas Malec (2003-2004).

Hall has also worn 4, 9 and 91 at other stops throughout his career.
