you've heard over the last couple of years, I've been there for 16 months. >> I think I've said I've changed the tone. >> I've put more emphasis on this fishery than than a lot of people. >> And there are some very progressive issues moving forward. This long board is just one of them. We're also going to have a look at the licensing system in this province and how that works. There's a better way to do business. I've said that before. And with respect to the election, you know what the amount of criticism that a union the hate groups in particular that attacked us, the elected leadership, where are they now? Because we have two staff people running for the president, the highest positions. >> It's local. So I'm not it's not known at this point. But we don't know who's running. We know two people came out publicly. I don't know if there's anybody else in the hopper. So we'll just park that for the time being. But what I will say to your point that this union is extremely significant to to our members and to rural newfoundland and the future of this fishery. And it's an important position. So we'll be looking at very carefully in the in the weeks and months to come on the vote. And you will remember that we called for change in many systems moving this industry forward. I'm happy today this loan board this loan is a part of that change. But it's important that we, you know, get together and ensure that we maximize not only the profits from the sale of crab but the processing of crab also we can do a lot better job. So we have any regrets? No, I don't. We have we had to have tie ups to move this agenda. It was contrary to regulations and legislation. But it had to be done and it paid off. We're in a much better situation right now in 12 short months. So no, I don't have any regrets. I don't have regrets for the tie ups. I don't have any regrets for the actions that we took to get here at this particular time which is really paying off for the province and our communities and members of a major ruling today from the international court of justice on the war in gaza. >> The united nations top court has ordered israel to stop its military operation in rafah. Cctv's jeremy sharon has the details. >> Inside this courtroom in the netherlands today, a landmark emergency ruling in a case brought forward by south africa accusing israel of genocide. >> Israel has not sufficiently addressed and dispelled the concern raised by its military offensive in rafah and a strict order from the world court is that it must immediately halt its military offensive and any other action in the rafah governorate which may inflict on the palestinian group in gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction. >> The president of the court also ordered israel to open the rafah border crossing to allow humanitarian aid in. >> Calling the situation in gaza catastrophic. Canada's position has been clear for many, many weeks now. >> We need an immediate cease fire. Hamas needs to lay down its arms. Release all hostages. But there also must be no more military operations in rafah. >> The court also called for the release of all remaining hostages. And while its order is legally binding, the icj lacks the power to enforce it. >> The international court of justice doesn't have its own army. It doesn't have its own police. It depends upon the security council to implement its its orders. >> This is the third time the court has issued orders for israel to pull back and address the humanitarian suffering in gaza. But israel has been accused of ignoring their orders in the past. >> Israeli spokesmen have already announced that essentially israel will not comply with the order that they will continue their operation. >> Israel has repeatedly dismissed accusations of genocide, insisting it has the right to defend itself from hamas. South africa's wider case here accuses israel of state led genocide against palestinians. A decision on that could take years but the icj has rejected israel's request to throw the case out. Jeremy sherrell ctv news, ottawa in tonight's weather brought to you by janes and those are the it's okay to get help with your debt. >> Start with free video advice from our team at jane's knows where the.ca well here is a beautiful weather photo taken in corner brook by william russell. Looks like that was taken around sunset. William thank you very much for sharing that photo with us.

looks like it was certainly taken from a loft. >> I love photos like that and if you've got them be sure to share them with me. You can get them to me by visiting our website dot so you can get your latest news and weather there. You can also visit the weather center where we have a live interactive radar where you can track the showers and storms we are currently seeing out there this evening. Now here's your five day forecast at a glance. >> And tomorrow's not looking too bad for eastern newfoundland. A few showers early. I think we get some sunshine during the afternoon and temps up into the upper teens central western more rain to more and more clouds and rain and snow for labrador. The weather gets better for a sunday to a point but it also turns a bit cooler. I mean showers may persist in central maybe some wet flakes in the morning for parts of central as well. But monday and tuesday looking nicer and warmer. Chance of rain returns for most areas by wednesday in labrador. Those rain chances come in by tuesday. Now here again is the satellite and radar view across the region. We've got one area of rain kind of working its way away from eastern newfoundland. We've got another area of low pressure trying to work its way into the west between the two. We've got kind of an area of instability and we are seeing some showers and storms fire up in the gulf of saint lawrence and just off the west coast and in some cases just on the west coast. So this is the shower cell I was watching earlier. This is indeed a thunderstorm. There are some lightning strikes embedded here in the heavier rain which you can see there showing up with the darker colors that the darker the color, the heavier the rain that we are seeing now this cell may have been producing some small hail offshore but the last couple of scattered showers should just be heavy rain with some occasional thunder and lightning. And we'll take a bit of a closer look in here towards lark harbour and york harbour and this is where the heaviest rain is currently falling with this cell as it is working its way kind of north and also to the east. Also keep in mind we get an updated radar sweep roughly every six minutes. So this may be a little bit east of where I'm currently showing you where it's located. So there's a little bit of a lag time between what I'm showing you and what actually might be transpiring. >> Now we'll look a little bit farther to the north and we can see where this cell is kind of working its way towards working its way towards river woody point, norris point, rocky harbour which it's up here right in bombay. So you're getting some rain kind of up that way right now. But the shower kind of looks to be weakening as it is drifting onshore. I'll keep a close eye on it over the last couple of sweeps as well as show some shower cells developing south of corner brooke. Not sure if there is any lightning in this but you might be hearing some thunder in corner brook if there is indeed lightning in that and that is going to roll right over the city here in the next little while if it's not already. Now we take a look at future cast and basically what should happen overnight is we will see an uptick in the activity of showers by tomorrow morning for central and western sections of newfoundland. Some wet snow going to fly in parts of labrador overnight not expecting more than a couple of centimeters here or there by midday tomorrow. Dry south and east but there's a rain central on the coast up through the northern peninsula and to southeastern labrador we're seeing the snow and that may very well persist tomorrow night. And some areas of newfoundland will wake up to some flakes early sunday morning but also sunday as this low pulls away, the winds turn north. So sunday is going to be a cooler day but a drier day and a sunnier day for most of us. And you can see that very well warmer tomorrow cooler sun and sunshine almost across the board. As we look ahead to monday so eastern newfoundland tonight between 5 and 10 for the overnight lows for your day tomorrow. Upper teens for the avalon some sunshine a little bit cooler off to the west we see more clouds and more rain. Late winds as well tomorrow. Western half of newfoundland tonight between 2 and 10 for the overnight lows your day two more periods of rain by afternoon central west and north generally cloudy. The further south you go into the labrador or overnight areas of rain and wet snow which will continue into tomorrow before winding down tomorrow night or early sunday morning friday forecast for eastern newfoundland. There you go. Decent weather monday, tuesday. Little rain by wednesday for central showers linger sunday but monday sunny tuesday 19 degrees, 21 on wednesday for western newfoundland looking at mid-teens monday and tuesday up to 18 on wednesday with a shower chances. They do return and for labrador looking at 11 degrees on your sunday 16 monday chances for rain returning for tuesday and wednesday which may end up some wet snow in the west on wednesday. >> And the stanley cup playoffs connor mcdavid was the hero last night scoring 32 seconds into double overtime as the edmonton oilers beat the dallas stars in game one of the western conference final. >> Here are the highlights stars of the four minute power play kick things off in O.T. they work the puck to robertson. He had supposed to scramble for the rebound. Skinner covers it up. The star so close to ending it. The oilers killing off
