Premier League side Nottingham Forest are ready to rival Inter Milan to sign Udinese and Slovenia defender Jaka Bijol.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews. The broadcaster also anticipate that Wolfsburg and Stuttgart have shown an interest in the 25-year-old’s signature.

Bijol is reportedly a player on Inter’s radar.

The Slovenian has been in Serie A for two seasons, joining Udinese in the summer of 2022 from CSKA Moscow.

Since his arrival at the Friulani, Bijol has shown himself to be quite adept playing in the centre of a back three.

The Slovenian’s size, strength, and man-marking ability have seen him marshal his penalty area well.

Those qualities were also on display at the Euros this summer. Bijol caught the eye with impressive performances marking Harry Kane, Aleksandar Mitrovic, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Inevitably, Bijol’s form has attracted transfer interest.

Inter have been linked with the Slovenian international this summer.

The Nerazzurri reportedly see Bijol as one of their major targets to replace Stefan de Vrij in the event that the Dutchman is to leave this summer.

De Vrij has reportedly received an offer from Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

And in any event, Inter are likely to sign a defender for the centre of the back three in the next year or two. Both de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi are well into their thirties and out of contract next summer.

Therefore, Bijol is very much a player who Inter are monitoring.

However, the Nerazzurri are not without competition.

SportItalia report that both of Wolfsburg and Stuttgart have shown an interest in bringing Bijol to the Bundesliga.

Moreover, the broadcaster anticipate, there is also competition from the Premier League. Nottingham Forest have also asked Udinese for information about signing Bijol this summer, they report.
