‘Not a topic’ Journalist denies Bayern interest in Manchester United star – report
Journalist Florian Plettenberg has denied reports linking Bayern Munich with Manchester United starlet Kobbie Mainoo.
The Bavarians reportedly want to sign a young midfielder this month and have set their sights on Mainoo and TSG Hoffenheim ace Tom Bischof.
Bayern have an ageing midfield comprising Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Joao Palhinha – who are all 29 years old.
Mainoo’s future has become a talking point in the past week following the stand-off between him and United over a new contract.
The 19-year-old is ‘unhappy’ with the terms proposed by the Red Devils, who must be careful not to breach Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
United have also reportedly changed their transfer stance on the young midfielder, with the club ‘expected not to make an unemotional judgment on all outgoings.’
These factors have paved the way for reports linking him with an exit from Old Trafford. Chelsea and Bayern have been linked with him.
However, Bayern are not interested in Mainoo.
Man United must keep Mainoo
Mainoo has been a shining light for the club since making his debut, and he is considered one of the best youngsters in European football.
The England international was nominated for the Golden Boy award, but Barcelona star Lamine Yamal beat him to the prize.
Manager Ruben Amorim has stated his desire to keep the ‘talented’ players in his squad. Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte are the first-choice pairing in his midfield.
Mainoo is one of the best products of the club’s academy and must be kept away from the grasp of domestic and European rivals.
