The saga surrounding Ronald Araujo in this winter transfer market is far from over. Although the chat between the player and Barcelona sporting director Deco seemed to have settled the matter, Juventus have not yet given up.

The Bianconeri were pushing hard to sign the 25-year-old Barcelona captain and the player appeared to have his sights set on an exit as well. But the talks with Deco, where he was promised an improved contract and a reasonable release clause, convinced him to stay.

However, it appears that Juve are not willing to throw in the towel yet and are preparing a fresh approach for Araujo.

New €70 million offer incoming?

Indeed, according to reports in Italy, as relayed by SPORT, Juventus are ready to return with an improved offer to try and lure Ronald Araujo away from Barcelona.

The Italian giants are about to sell Andrea Cambiasso to Manchester City for approximately €65 million. This is a substantial deal for the versatile full-back which could equip the Bianconeri to go after their intended targets.

As such, Juventus intend to use this incoming sum to make a renewed offer for Araujo, whom they view as a central defender capable of defining an era at the club.

The Serie A heavyweights are considering raising their previous offer of €50 million to around €70 million.

If Juventus press ahead with such an offer, the situation for Barcelona would change dramatically.

After all, it is important to note that Araujo’s contract with the Catalans runs until June 2026. With only a year and a half remaining on his current deal, an offer of around €70 million could be appealing to both parties.

Araujo’s situation may take many twists and turns until the transfer window closes on 3 February, with possibilities ranging from his renewal to continuing under his current contract at Barcelona or even a move to Juventus.

The final decision will rest with the player, but Juventus are expected to continue pushing for his signing.
