Not again: Miguel Andújar going back on the IL due to shoulder injury
Miguel Andújar is still having issues with his injured shoulder. The New York Yankees will place the 24-year-old Andújar on the Injured List on Monday after he failed to bounce back as well as they would have liked, according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.
Andújar initially injured his shoulder three games into the 2019 season. He was placed on the IL with a tear in his shoulder and missed all of April recovering. Andújar was able to return in May, but hit just .088/.114/.088 over 35 plate appearances.
Despite this being the second time Andújar has hit the IL with the same injury, the Yankees aren’t sure whether he’ll need surgery.
Asked if surgery is an option for Andújar Boone says "I wouldn't say it's necessarily off the table" but doesn't indicate it's more *on* the table than it was during his initial assessment. He'll get more imaging and whatnot.

Andújar, however, will receive more imaging on his shoulder.
After finishing second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting last season, Andújar came into 2019 with heightened expectations. He hasn’t had a chance to build on last year’s success, as he was only healthy for three games.
With Andújar sidelined, the Yankees will continue to rely on Giovanny Urshela at third. The 27-year-old Urshela has gotten off to a hot start, hitting .341/.396/.505 over his first 101 plate appearances of the season.
Losing Andújar again gives the Yankees yet another promising player on the IL. The team has struggled with injuries all season. Andújar will join Dellin Betances, Aaron Judge, James Paxton and Giancarlo Stanton, among others, on the IL.
Despite those injuries, the Yankees are 24-16 on the season. They trail the Tampa Bay Rays by a half game in the American League East.
