Speculation around a potential midfield arrival at Manchester City has just stepped up a notch with reports from Norway revealing the travel direction of one player.

Earlier this month, the Premier League champions were tied with interest into Rosenborg’s central midfielder Sverre Nypan, with it being claimed that a decision on the player’s future within the game was ‘imminent’.

With ‘Team Nypan’ said to be in the process of narrowing down their list of possible options and talking to several clubs, it was stated at the time that Nypan’s current club valued his services at around £10 million.

One interest details is that Sverre Nypan is also represented by globally-renowned super-agent Rafaela Pimenta, who recently aided Erling Haaland in not only securing his move to City back in 2022, but also extending his contract this month by nine-and-a-half years.

Manchester City’s hunt for a new central midfielder has been well-publicised, and their need to recruit in the middle of the pitch was further emphasised on Wednesday night during a dramatic 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

Now, according to the information of journalist Ole Sagbakken, Rosenborg’s 18-year-old central midfield prospect Sverre Nypan is flying into Manchester Airport on Friday night, with his intentions unknown within that particular report.

Eight days ago, TV2Sport in Norway reported that Manchester City were alongside Arsenal in being candidates for the teenager’s signature, while Manchester United were ruled out of the race for the player this month.

However, in further details provided by market insider Fabrizio Romano, it is revealed that Nypan is set to visit Manchester City as they present a plan to the midfielder which is believed to include a potential loan to Girona.

From the side of the player, Romano reports that Nypan will ‘take his time to decide’.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
