New North Myrtle Beach area indoor golf facility to open. Where it is and what it offers
The Grand Strand is known for its many golf courses and thousands of people come year-round to take advantage of them.
It’s because of the many golf enthusiasts that Rudy Rueda III and his wife, Ashley, decided to open Golfluent, an indoor golf training facility that features five state-of-the-art golf simulators for golfers of all levels.
The couple hope to open in early to mid-January.
Rueda said the Little River business at 1763 Highway 17 will be the first of its kind in the area.
“It’s all about enjoying the game of golf,” Rueda said. “We’ve removed the variables, such as weather temperatures, someone breathing down the back of your neck, the gators.”
The 6,000-square-feet facility will be family-friendly and participants will be able to tee off on one of more than 350 virtual courses, Rueda said.
Participants will be immersed in the virtual courses by standing on a hitting mat in an enclosure that uses computer screens and a large impact screen, he said. There will be courses for all ages and all skill levels.
A lounge area will have TVs and five large simulators where people can take a break.
There will also be a retail shop that offers golf accessories, apparel and rentals.
When establishing the business, Ashley Rueda said they wanted to be “lighthearted and remember where we are. We’re at the beach. People love golf.”
“We’re in the golf capital of the world,” Rudy Rueda said.
