Pat Nevin has claimed there’s no way Cole Palmer would want to leave Chelsea and that his support for Manchester United has gone.

Palmer, a boyhood United fan joined Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 and has been nothing short of a revelation.

The 22-year-old has become a full England international and established himself as one of the best players in not just the Premier League but the world.

Palmer was named Premier League Young Player of the Year last season after scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists in a record breaking campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.

The former City star has continued that form under Enzo Maresca, with 13 goals and six assists in 20 league matches so far this campaign.

Maresca has said he’s very proud to work with Palmer, and despite the additions of Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto and Joao Felix in the summer, he’s still very much the jewel in Chelsea’s crown.

Naturally Palmer’s form has seen him linked with some of the biggest club’s in the world including Real Madrid, but given he was a boyhood United fan, links of a future move to Old Trafford crop up every so often.

Former Blue Nevin has claimed Palmer’s support for United has gone and there’s no way he’d want to leave an exciting team like Chelsea.

“Cole Palmer’s support for Manchester United is gone, it really has gone,” he told Grosvenor Sport as cited on X.com.

“Maybe some part of him might want to go there at the end of his career but that really won’t be in his mind.

“There’s no way he’d want to leave a vibrant young team like Chelsea for the current Manchester United, despite their good performance against Liverpool.”

The Blues will be hoping Palmer is performing at a high level for them for many years to come and leads them to silverware, but they need to get back into the Champions League as soon as possible and start winning trophies to keep Palmer and others happy.
