No bull: Predators coach Peter Laviolette wears mask during scrum
The NHL is often criticized for its routine and cliche interviews, but what went down in Edmonton Saturday night was anything but.
After an impressive 3-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on the second night of back-to-back road games, Nashville Predators head coach Peter Laviolette greeted reporters post-game wearing a bull mask.
Why was he wearing the mask? I guess you’ll just have to hear the answer from the horse’s, er, I mean, the bull’s mouth.
This is @PredsNHL coach Peter Laviolette. The Team had a bet if they won the first two games of the trip thru Western Canada he would wear this..and that's no bull. pic.twitter.com/hZflfgaqzt

You have to appreciate the guy for following through on his side of the agreement. Promising your team that you’ll rock a bull’s mask in a post-game interview after sweeping a Western Canada road trip is a pretty bold, yet strange declaration.
You can’t knock the tactic; however, as it clearly worked. Nashville defeated both the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers on back-to-back nights and that’s something that isn’t easy to do.
Speaking of bulls, it seems like Laviolette’s club has been seeing red lately. They’ve won their last five games, all of which have been on the road. The team’s 7-1-0 start gives them the best record in the NHL.
This is not the first time Laviolette has followed through on a promise. Last year, he told his team that if they swept their three-game Western Canada road trip, he and the coaching staff would wear colourful Christmas suits.
And much like his latest bet, he had to pay up.
Peter Laviolette should really stop making bets with his players about sweeping Western Canadian road trips.
Last season, the coaching staff had to wear Christmas suits on the bench. This season… pic.twitter.com/L3JlIefRk7
