Nixed Trade For J.T. Miller Reportedly Included Two Players And First-Round Pick

The New York Rangers reportedly had a trade close to being completed with the Vancouver Canucks for J.T. Miller before it ultimately fell through.

More information about the framework of that potential deal is coming out.

According to The Athletic, Filip Chytil, Ryan Lindgren and a first-round pick could have been involved in the trade.

The Athletic added one source confirmed that a disagreement on the protection structure of a first-round pick was a key hurdle.

According to Larry Brooks of The New York Post, Alexis Lafrenière has been a player discussed between the two teams while USA Today’s Vince Z. Mercogliano wrote that the possibility of trading Lafrenière would be a bridge too far.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that talks were progressing between the Rangers and Canucks as there was even a point when Miller was set to be scratched out of the lineup with a trade close to being completed.

Now, we wait and see what unfolds or doesn't.
