As mentioned, Hughes leads the way with a 94 overall rating. The reigning Norris Trophy winner is the second highest-rated defenceman, with Cale Makar being the only defender with a higher rating. Hughes also has the Elite Edges X-factor ability attached to his player, which helps players complete sharp turns while skating at high speed.

The highest-ranking forward on Vancouver's roster to start the season is J.T. Miller at 92 overall. Ranked 23rd, Miller's X-factor ability is Unstoppable Force, which makes it extremely difficult to knock Miller off balance when skating with the puck. As for Miller's top attributes, they are passing, puck control and balance, which all received a 93 overall rating.

Rounding out the top five, or should we say six, are Brock Boeser and Filip Hronek. Both enter the season with an 87 overall record and are ranked 108th and 129th. While neither have X-factors, they both have shot-related abilities that increase their ability to rocket shots on net.

The last three are Jake Debrusk and Conor Garland, who have an 85 overall rating, and Daniel Sprong at 84. All three have strong offensive attributes, with most either ranked at 87 or 88 overall. The trio also share the same overall in a few different fields, including poise at 80 overall and faceoffs at 65 overall.
