Nike debuts LeBron 17 'Mr. Swackhammer' shoe inspired by 'Space Jam' villain
Not even a week after the release of the ‘Monstars’-inspired LeBron 17’s, Nike is back with a brand new colorway that pays homage to the main villain in the highly-anticipated sequel to the 90s favorite “Space Jam.” Aptly titled, “Mr. Swackhammer,” this might be Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James’ brightest shoe release to date.
Nike writes: “Ever since the Looney Tunes rocketed Mr. Swackhammer back to the mountain, he’s been working tirelessly to capture—or rather, “invite” the biggest names in the game to be part of his basketball squad. And his sights are set on snatching The King.”
Worn by King James himself during the All-Star game in Chicago, the Mr. Swackhammer design has neon accents, galaxy insoles with “Space Jam” lettering and splashes of blue hues on the laces and sole unit.
With every shoe release that revolves around “Space Jam,” the anticipation for the film intensifies. Sadly, fans of the OG flick will have to wait until Summer 2021 to see the follow-up in theaters.
The LeBron 17’s Mr. Swackhammer drop nationwide Wednesday for a retail price of $225.
