Everton have completed the signing of Nigerian international forward Toni Payne from Spanish club Sevilla.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls this afternoon.

The 29-year-old attacker has spent the last six years of her career in Spain with Sevilla. She has netted 30 goals in 169 outings in the finetwork Liga F. Payne has also represented Dutch club Ajax in her senior career to date.

On the international stage, Payne has been capped by Nigeria on 21 occasions. She was a member of the Nigerian team that battled bravely at last summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

After completing her move to Everton, Payne said “I’m super-excited to be an Everton player. It’s been my dream to play in the UK and in such a strong league like the WSL. I’m excited to have the opportunity to play at a club like Everton with so much history in football.

“Now was the right moment for me to look for another challenge to push myself. It’s going to be different and new, and I’m really happy about my decision.”

Payne becomes Everton’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
