NHL Unveils St. Louis Blues Quarter Century Team

CHICAGO -- The NHL announced the 12 players making up the first and second quarter-century teams, beginning with the participants in the 2025 Discover Winter Classic, the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks.

The Blues and Blackhawks rosters were announced during the second intermission of at Wrigley Field on Tuesday.

The League's remaining teams will be announced daily throughout January.

First and Second teams each include three forwards, two defensemen and a goaltender. The honorees were selected by a panel of media, retired players and respective clubs' executives.

Once all franchises' teams are announced, a League-wide fan vote will take place to determine the NHL Quarter-Century Team. Voting will take place Feb. 12-26 on NHL.com and X, with results to be announced at a later date.

For the Blues, their first team included Alexander Steen, Vladimir Tarasenko, Keith Tkachuk, Alex Pietrangelo, Chris Pronger and Jordan Binnington.

"That's a great honor, obviously," said Binnington, who recently set the franchise record for wins, passing his agent Mike Liut. "Just a great organization to be a part of from top to bottom. I have pride in wearing the Bluenote, representing the city. That's nice."

The second team had David Backes, Ryan O'Reilly, David Perron, Al MacInnis, Colton Parayko and Brian Elliott.

Parayko wasn't aware of the news when broken to him, like Binnington, but

"I'm just humbled obviously and honored," Parayko said. "A lot of amazing players and people that have gone through this organization. Such a world-class organization. That's truly an honor, very special to me. I have goosebumps right now. So many good players I got to play with, so many good teammates. It goes out to all them too. We're all on the ice out there together, but everybody contributes to it. It's not just a Colton award."

Jaden Schwartz, T.J. Oshie, Pavol Demitra, Doug Weight among some of the forwards who didn't make the cut but made valid cases. As far as defensemen, Barret Jackman, Jay Bouwmeester and Kevin Shattenkirk had strong cases. Jake Allen and Jaroslav Halak were viable options in goal.
