Team USA's Beijing Olympic hockey jerseys get immediately roasted by the masses

The Winter Olympics are a time to start rooting for your nation loud and proud but, for the United States hockey team, it might be more like a whisper after it released what the players will be wearing in Beijing.

Maybe we all missed the memo on Auston Matthews and Hilary Knight becoming midfielders for the national soccer team or something. With so much space below the chest and the crest placement, the newest jerseys released by an Olympic team certainly looks more like something you will find on the pitch rather than on the ice.

This, of course, led to some furious backlash from American fans that were no doubt looking forward to buying a fresh jersey ahead of the Winter Games.

Every vintage hockey reseller suddenly got a little sparkle in their eye.

Not to be outdone by their southern rivals, Canada joined in on the fun of unveiling some incredibly hideous threads of their own just a day before.

If we happen to get these two jerseys playing against one another for the gold medal, it might be the most aesthetically unwatchable hockey game of our lifetime. These threads stink.

The battle between the world’s best players begins on February 3 with the women’s preliminary round and finishes on February 20 with the men’s gold medal game. A full 18 days of hockey.

With these egregious uniform releases over the past two days, it's maybe a good thing these games will be broadcasted when barely anyone in North America is awake to watch them.
