NHL Fines Kings' Adrian Kempe For Slew-Footing Oilers' Connor McDavid
Los Angeles Kings right winger Adrian Kempe received a $5,000 fine for slew-footing Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday.
During the third period, McDavid entered the Kings zone and passed the puck to Connor Brown. After the pass, Kempe checked McDavid along the boards and appeared to sweep out his feet, which caused McDavid to fall backward.
Kempe did not receive a penalty for the hit during the game, a 1-0 Oilers win.

Kempe's fine is the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement without requiring a hearing. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance fund.
In 41 games this season, Kempe has 20 goals and 19 assists for 39 points. His 18 penalty minutes are tied for the sixth-most on the team.
