NHL Fantasy Waiver Wire Defensemen Pickups January 7 - Bowen Byram Hot In Buffalo
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Bowen Byram, BUF vs. WSH (37% rostered)
Byram saw his four-game point streak end Saturday. During that span he notched a goal and three assists. On the year, Byram is up to five goals and 17 helpers in 40 contests. Byram tallied 11 markers and 18 apples, both career highs, last season, splitting time between Colorado and Buffalo. He has raised his game his first full campaign with the Sabres.
Luke Hughes, NJ @ SEA (52% rostered)
I am taking poetic license by including Hughes, who is slightly above the 50% rostered threshold we normally use for this column. Hughes has had an up-and-down campaign finishing December with two scoreless contests after posting three goals and 11 points in the first 11 games of the month. In addition, he is the second option on the New Jersey blueline behind Dougie Hamilton. But Hughes' talent, as seen last year, makes him a solid option Monday.
