NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Forwards Pickups Jan. 18 - Fantilli Stretches Points Streak; Colton Back On Top

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.

Bryan Rust, RW, PIT at WSH (49% rostered)

With three goals and seven points in his past five games, we're on our way back to rostering Rust in over 50 percent of Yahoo leagues. I'm still not sure why he hasn't been rostered all season; he's arguably the Pens' second-best player after Sidney Crosby, and he shoots the puck a ton. This is a tough matchup but Rust has fantasy value beyond just this game.

Matvei Michkov, RW, PHI at NJ (48% rostered)

There's a chance the Devils start Jake Allen in this matchup, so I like Michkov even more as a streaming option. He's scored three points in his past four games and these afternoon matinee games can sometimes be high-scoring affairs because goalies aren't used to starting this early and usually go through an abbreviated routine.

Logan Cooley, C, UTA vs. STL (47% rostered)

Cooley's on a three-game points streak and he will be their 1C for the rest of the season. He's an highly skilled offensive player quietly having a breakout season. In deeper leagues, Cooley should be rostered for the rest of the season.

Marco Rossi, C, MIN at NSH (47% rostered)

Even with Joel Eriksson Ek back, Rossi's playing a huge role for the Wild. He played nearly 25 minutes against the Oilers and scored his second goal in three games. The Preds allow the ninth-most shots on goal per game, affording Rossi plenty of chances. He's centering L1 and PP1.

Anton Lundell, C/RW, FLA vs. ANA (32% rostered)

Pity that the Panthers weren't able to beat Cam Talbot and the Red Wings in their most recent game despite their best efforts. Lundell managed to score a goal, but they could've gotten more; his line with Carter Verhaeghe generated as many high-danger chances as Sam Bennett's line, which was excellent, and the second-most expected goals. The Ducks have allowed three or more goals in three of their past five games.

Pavel Dorofeyev, LW/RW, VGK at CHI (31% rostered)
Victor Olofsson, LW/RW, VGK at CHI (9% rostered)

On fire with five goals and seven points in his past three games and a good matchup. Dorofeyev offers good shot volume at the bare minimum, so not much to think about with this one.

Olofsson is also an option with three assists in his past two games. He's primarily a shooter but he hasn't done much shooting lately. This matchup is hard to pass up, even if the Knights are playing the second game of a back-to-back.

Troy Terry, C/RW, ANA at FLA (28% rostered)

Terry's 'dad strength' has kicked in after returning to the ice following the birth of his second child. He finished with a goal on six shots in Tampa, and the Panthers goaltending has been very weak lately. There is some risk here, though, as the Ducks offense isn't very consistent and they've been shut out twice in their past four games.

Brayden Schenn, C/LW, STL at UTA (23% rostered)

Dylan Holloway has 'graduated' from this list because he's rostered in over half of Yahoo leagues now, but linemate Schenn hasn't gotten the same traction. He scored two goals against the Flames to bring his total to five points in his past four games. Schenn and Holloway have formed quite the duo and they'll share the ice on L2 and PP1, though you could argue they're the top line and Robert Thomas is L2.

Adam Fantilli, C, CBJ at NYR (18% rostered)

Continues to be very productive skating in Sean Monahan's place, and I figure he's not getting rostered as quickly as he should because C is such a deep position. Fantilli's on a seven-game points streak and averaging over 18 minutes per game over the past week. He's a top streaming option for Saturday with lots of medium-term value while Monahan is injured.

Ross Colton, C/LW, COL vs. DAL (15% rostered)

Yes, here we go again, but note Colton is slated to skate on L1 with Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. Colton's been quiet since returning to the lineup and the Avs' top-six gets mixed around a lot, but as long as he's playing on that line, it's worth taking a chance on him.

Honorable mention:

Tyler Toffoli, LW/RW, SJ at NYI (38% rostered) - 2 G, 2 A, 5 SOG in 2 GP
William Eklund, LW/RW, SJ at NYI (21% rostered) - 3 G, 4 A, 17 SOG in 6 GP
Josh Norris, C, OTT at BOS (34% rostered) - 1 G, 2 A, 11 SOG, 23 FOW, 16 hits in 4 GP
Logan Stankoven, C/RW, DAL at COL (22% rostered) - 2 G, 2A, 8 SOG in 3 GP
Yegor Sharangovich, C/LW/RW, CGY at WPG (13% rostered) - 2 G, 1 A in 3 GP
Kent Johnson, C/LW/RW, CBJ at NYR (12% rostered) - 2 G, 3 A in 6 GP
