Blackwood had a very successful debut with the Avalanche on Saturday, stopping 37 of 39 shots in a 5-2 win. He came over from San Jose last Monday and missed his first few chances to play due to illness. Blackwood, an unrestricted free agent after the season, went 6-9-3 with a 3.00 goals-against-average and one shutout in 19 contests for the Sharks. He and Scott Wedgewood will split time between the pipes for Colorado until one takes a hold of the job. Wedgewood could start today, but I could see the Av's giving Blackwood back-t0-back starts.
