NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Dec. 9 - Zucker, Vlasic and Husso The Primary Targets

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games

Forwards

Jason Zucker, LW, BUF vs, DET (6% rostered)

Zucker snapped a four-game drought with an assist December 3, then followed that contest up with helpers in two straight games. Skating on the top line, Zucker is up to five goals and 12 apples in 27 games, skating 15:16 a game, including 3:08 on the power play. Signed to a one-year, $5 million contract, Zucker is a candidate to be dealt at the trade deadline, but for now, is of value to the Sabres.

Reilly Smith, RW, NYR vs. CHI (4% rostered)

Smith snapped a 10-game goal drought by scoring Friday against the Penguins, his previous team, and his tally was the game-winner. A free agent after the season, Smith was brought to try and fill the right wing role next to Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. His performance to date has been average at best, with four markers and nine apples in 24 games, but he should remain in his current deployment after being restored to that spot last week.

Troy Terry, C/RW, ANA @ MTL (20% rostered)

Terry is scoreless in two straight after notching seven assists during a four-game scoring streak. But he is still skating on the top line and will be relied upon even more with Trevor Zegras sidelined with a lower body injury. Overall, Terry has six tallies, 13 helpers, 63 shots on net and a minus-2 rating across 25 outings.

Defensemen

Alex Vlasic, CHI @ NYR (7% rostered)

Vlasic is on a bit of a heater, notching a pair of goals and as many assists his last five contests, though he is a minus-eight in that stretch. With Seth Jones (foot) still on the shelf, Vlasic continues to handle first-unit power-play duties as well as similar at even-strength. Vlasic has also added 63 blocked shots while skating 23+ minutes a night, adding to his value.

Three games for Dec. 9

* = confirmed

Ville Husso, DET @ Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, BUF (7 p.m. ET)

Arvid Soderblom, CHI @ Dylan Garand, NYR (7 p.m. ET)

Lukas Dostal, ANA @ Sam Montembeault, MTL (7:30 p.m. ET)

Goalies

Ville Husso, DET @ BUF (5% rostered)

Husso has been solid recently despite not winning a game in this stretch. Forced to step into a starting role with Cam Talbot (lower body) sidelined, the 29-year-old Finnish netminder has yet to win a start this season and has dropped the four straight appearances he's made since Dec. 1. Husso has gone 0-2-2 with a 2.78 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage in that span, but faces a scuffling Sabres team Monday.
