NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Goalie Pickups January 25 -Merilainen Looks to Get Back on the Beam

Goalies

Leevi Merilainen, OTT vs. UTAH (23% rostered)

Linus Ullmark remains out with a back injury, but he is inching closer to returning, as he is with the team on their current road trip. In the meanwhile, Merilainen continues to serve as Ottawa's top netminder. After a unsustainable hot start, Merilianen has returned to earth in his last two appearances. Despite those struggles, he's still gone 4-2-1 with a 2.17 goals-against average (GAA) and a .920 save percentage across seven appearances in January. Sunday's start could be one of his last as the Sens' top option between the pipes and Merilainen has a good chance of notching a victory.

Spencer Knight, FLA @ LV (23% rostered)

I profiled Knight for Wednesday's start and he stopped 26 of 28 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Kings. The defeat was his first regulation loss since Dec. 28 -- he had won his last three starts and made one scoreless relief appearance in January. Sergei Bobrovsky is still the team's top netminder despite his recent struggles, though he won his prior outing. Knight's recent play should allow him to challenge Bob for more starts between the pipes. He is now 9-7-1 with a 2.43 GAA and a .907 save percentage over 19 appearances. Knight has a tough match up on the road against the Knights, nut look for a solid SV% and total number of saves.
