NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Skater Pickups January 17 - Dorofeyev Back on Beam Last Two Games

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games

Forwards

Michael Bunting, LW, PIT @ BUF (16% rostered)

Bunting is skating on the second line in Pittsburgh, centered by Evgeni Malkin, who recently returned after missing four games with an injury. Despite not scoring the last two games played, he has posted six goals and three assists in 10 contests, Bunting, in his first full season with the Penguins, has registered 13 goals, 25 points, 84 shots on net, 48 hits and 42 PIM through 43 appearances this season.

Jason Zucker, LW, BUF vs. PIT (29% rostered)

Zucker notched a pair of apples Wednesday, ending a three-game scoring drought with his third multi-point effort in the last eight contests. Despite Zucker's performance being uneven, he still has 15 goals, 33 points, 79 shots on net, 45 hits, 39 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 44 appearances. On a one-year contract, unless the Sabres make a run to get back into playoff contention, Zucker could be trade deadline bait.

Pavel Dorofeyev, LW/RW, LV @ CAR (15% rostered)

Dorofeyev tallied a natural hat trick Tuesday, giving the winger five goals his last two games after a stretch of 18 contests in which he was limited to a total of two goals and two assists. The five markers have upped his season total to 18, a new career high. Dorofeyev, as seen by the first sentence, is very streaky. Despite the roller coaster performance, he is up to 27 points in 44 games after posting 24 in 44 contests last season.

Defenseman

Jaccob Slavin, CAR vs. LV (14% rostered)

Slavin notched his third goal of the season Wednesday. Shayne Gostisbehere, who missed eight games with an upper body injury, was activated from injured reserve Sunday. His return pushes Slavin down the d-man pecking order, but Slavin should continue to provide sporadic offense. His main value in leagues is minutes per game on ice and blocked shots.
