NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Skater Pickups January 19 - Adam Gaudette Warming

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.

Forwards

Adam Gaudette, C/RW, OTT @ NJ (1% rostered)

Gaudette scored for the second time in three games and he has three points in his last five contests. He has found his scoring touch after being limited to just three assists in a 15-game stretch. Gaudette is on his second stint with the Senators after playing 24 games for the team in 2021-22. He is skating on Ottawa's second line with his 15 goals a new career-high, though that is largely driven by a 27+ shooting percentage.

Arthur Kaliyev, RW, NYR @ MTL (1% rostered)

Kaliyev, claimed off waivers by the Rangers from the Kings, is still finding his way in New York. What we have seen is that his shoot-first reputation is more than warranted. Kaliyev is skating on the Blueshirts' third line with Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil and seeing second unit power play minutes. Look for him to see around 12 minutes a game of ice time and remain a fixture in the team's lineup.

Alex Newhook, C, MTL vs. NYR (1% rostered)

Newhook, after going scoreless for six straight games, has points in two straight - a goal and an assist. After scoring between 30 and 34 points his first three full seasons in the league, Newhook is on pace for 20 points this season. Newhook is now skating on the Habs' second line at right wing with Kirby Dach in the middle and Patrik Laine on the left, making him a bit of a possible buy-low candidate.

Defensemen

Simon Edvinsson, DET vs. DAL (6% rostered)

No, I don't have a man-crush on Edvinsson, though it may seem that way given how many times I have profiled him. He has assists in his three of his last five contests, giving the 21-year-old blueliner 13 helpers on the season. My advice is to jump on board, especially in keeper leagues, before you are left wondering why I didn't follow our advice sooner.
