NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Forward Pickups January 5 -Justin Brazeau and Bobby Brink Both Look to Remain Hot
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Ryan Donato, C/LW/RW, CHI vs. NYR (9% rostered)
Donato has bounced up-and-down the Chicago lineup between the second fourth line, remaining productive, He has assists in each of his last two contests and a goal with six helpers in his prior 11 games. Donato is on pace for career-bests almost across the board, sitting with 11 goals, 10 assists, five power-play points, 89 shots on net, 71 hits and a minus-3 rating through 37 appearances.
Brett Berard, RW, NYR @ CHI (0% rostered)
Berard saw his small two-game point streak end Saturday. Despite that occurrence, he continues to bring energy and a little bite to a New York squad that lacks those qualities. Berard is skating with Filip Chytil and Will Cuylle on a newly-formed "kid" line that operates as the third trio for the Blueshirts.
Anders Lee, LW, NYI @ BOS (43% rostered)
Lee's production has ebbed and flowed this season, including recently. Despite the uneven output, the Islanders' captain has 16 goals and 14 assists in 30 games after tallying just 20 and 17 in 81 contests last season. Lee is skating on New York's top line with Bo Horvat and Mat Barzal while manning a spot on the team's first unit power play.
Justin Brazeau, RW, BOS vs. NYI (1% rostered)
Brazeau, who notched five goals and a pair of assists in 19 games as a rookie last season, has raised his game in his first full campaign. Through almost half-a-season, 38 contests, Brazeau has already lit the lamp nine times while adding eight helpers and dishing out 56 hits. He has become a stalwart on the B's third line with Trent Frederic.
Jack Roslovic, LW/RW, CAR vs. PIT (10% rostered)
Roslovic saw his point streak end at five Thursday during which he notched four goals and three assists. He is having a brilliant campaign in Carolina after signing with the 'Canes as a free agent. Roslovic is already up to 17 goals, five shy of his career-high set in 2021-22 with Columbus, and eight helpers in 38 contests. He benefits from playing on a line with Sebastian Aho as well as a 22.4 percent shooting percentage.
Michael Bunting, LW, PIT @ CAR (13% rostered)
Bunting is on an offensive roll. He posted 11 points (six goals, five helpers) in 12 games in December, and the added an assist to start January. Bunting has 11 markers and as many apples in 39 contests, which shows just how slow his start is when you factor in what he produced in December. But he now is living life on a line with Evgeni Malkin.
Bobby Brink, RW, PHI @ TOR (10% rostered)
Brink has been an assist machine, recording six apples over his last seven games. On the negative side, he's now gone 15 games without a goal, taking just 19 shots on net in that span. Brink had a solid rookie campaign, posting 11 goals and 12 helpers in 57 contests while skating on the third line. He fits best in that roll until he shows he can score more consistently, but his fantasy teams certainly won't complain if he continues to rack up apples.
Bobby McMann, LW, TOR vs. PHI (10% rostered)
McMann ended 2024 on a roll and he started 2025 similarly. He has 10 points, including six goals, and 22 shots in his last nine games. McMann and linemates Max Domi and Nicholas Robertson have palpable chemistry which has shown on the scoresheet for McMann. He is up to 12 goals in 31 contests after notching 15 in 56 games as a rookie last season.
Troy Terry, C/RW, ANA vs. TB (39 % rostered)
Terry has been on fire since the beginning of December. The 27-year-old winger has tallied 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in his 16 appearances since the beginning of December. On the season, Terry is up to go 13 markers and 18 apples in 38 contests following a somewhat slow start. Terry is the veteran leader for the Ducks who signed a seven-year, $49 million contract with Anaheim in August of 2023.
